Shorts – two for one

Went to Dalston Mill Fabrics at the weekend, based down at Ridley Road Market. They are packed, floor to ceiling, with loads of good, affordable fabrics. In a small room in the back is all the suiting and trouser fabric – and within 5 minutes, I had found 2 great candidates for my next project – a pair of shorts. The prices were so good, especially when compared to West End fabric stores, that I decided a woman can always use an extra pair of shorts. So I bought this lovely blue gaberdine and this rich chocolate stretch gaberdine. Deadline: end of November. I’ll be using David Page Coffin’s Making Trousers: How to Achieve Great Results to get the best details on the pockets, belt carriers and zipper.
