Ken made dinner AND dessert this past weekend and it was DELICIOUS. It wasn’t quick, but it was fairly easy. But don’t let that take away from the fact it was super tasty.
First off, we had kleftiko, a favourite of ours since having it at Mario’s Greek restaurant in West Hampstead. Ken served it with bratkartoffeln (fried potatoes and onions). Kleftiko is surprisingly simple to make:
- Heat oven to 150C
- Get some lamb shanks
- Add some veg to an oven proof dish with lid (or don’t – you can make it without the veg). We used carrots and onions.
- Poke some holes in the lamb shanks and stuff in some garlic, rosemary, oregano – whatever sounds good
- Add salt, pepper and lemon juice (we used 1 1/2 lemons for 2 shanks) and some olive oil
- Put the lid on the pot (for a tighter seal, put foil over the top of the pot before putting the lid on) and stick it in the oven for about 4 hours. Done.
For dessert, we had chocolate mousse, made earlier in the day. It was based on Jamie Oliver’s recipe
We did it with raspberries and mint, which was so super delicious, it’s unreal.
